Lyric video, visualizer or music video: which does your song need?

Updated 3 October 2026 · Avoxvision studio

A visualizer puts motion around your song, a lyric video puts the words on screen, and a music video tells the song in images, filmed, generated with AI or drawn. The right one depends on the song, the release plan and the budget. Here is how they differ.

The differences at a glance

TypeWhat it isWhat it needs
Visualizer or animated coverThe cover art in motion, running through the songThe cover and the song
Lyric videoThe words on screen, designed and animated in sync with the songThe lyrics, the master and a look
Filmed music videoA shoot on location or on a green-screen stageA shooting day, the artist and a location
AI music videoScenes and characters generated with AI, directed and edited for the songThe song and the idea
Animated music videoCharacters and worlds drawn and animated for the songThe song and a story

When the words matter, start with a lyric video

A lyric video is made in the studio from design, animation and typography, with no shooting day, so it is ready sooner and fits more budgets than a filmed video. It also lets listeners learn the words.

When the artist matters, film it

A filmed music video shows the artist: the performance, the look, the place. It needs a shoot, so it takes more planning. See filmed music videos.

When the story is impossible to film

AI and animation tell stories no camera can film: impossible places, characters, whole worlds. See AI music videos and animated music videos.

Questions

Is a visualizer the same as a lyric video?

No. A visualizer is motion around the song, often the cover in motion. A lyric video shows the words in sync with the music.

Which video type is the quickest?

An animated cover is the quickest; a Premium lyric video or a full music video takes longer. Tell us the release date and we will plan backwards from it.

Can one release have more than one video?

Yes. The same artwork can carry a lyric video, a Spotify Canvas and cuts for Reels and TikTok, so the release looks like one campaign.

Not sure which video your song needs?

Send us the song on WhatsApp or by email. We will suggest the type that fits it, with a timeline and a quote.
